Greetings from Your Superintendents

EPSLogoGreetings from Your Superintendents,

We are excited to assist East Prairie School through the upcoming school year. We have heard terrific things about the staff, students, parents and other stakeholders, and both of us are looking forward to getting to know all of you in the upcoming weeks. There are some exciting times ahead for the EPS community!

The two of us interims collectively have over 30 years of experience leading school districts. We are our experience will help the school move forward in positive ways. Below are the goals that we have set for the year ahead:

Enhance Communication-Use new and existing communication vehicles to keep the community informed and allow for two-way dialogue between all stakeholders.

Facilities Management-Ensure the building construction is finalized and functioning as it was designed. It is going to be large source of community pride!

Mentor New Principal-Use their experience to ensure the principal is successful and is supported in his new role.
Clarify Roles and Responsibilities-Identify chain of command to assist students, parents and staff in addressing issues. Educate all stakeholders on the roles and responsibilities of the Board of Education, the superintendent(s) and principal.

Financial Stewardship-Ensure the district operates within its fiscal means. After the generous support from the community for a new building, work to keep operating costs within anticipated revenue so no additional support is sought from the taxpayers.

Social-Emotional Learning-Continue the work of implementing SEL ideas and practices into the everyday functioning of the school to enhance the well-being of students and strengthening their social-emotional wellbeing.

The new building continues to take shape, with work occurring into the evening and on weekends. The second and third floors are nearing completion, with the first floor (used for staging material and moving workers throughout the building) still needing a fair amount of attention. The old building is down, and the debris being removed. (The basement of the old building is being incorporated into stormwater retention.)

We both look forward to meeting each of you and getting to know you. You can count on our support in the year ahead to make it one of the best.

Best regards,

Sheila Harrison-Williams and Scott Thompson
