Jasmine WargaCome meet the author of the highly praised book, Other Words for Home. It is a hope-filled story of what it is like to leave behind one’s beloved home and family. Younger readers will laugh with the main character, Jude, a Syrian refugee, feel sad with her, and cheer for her as she and her mother settle in Cincinnati to live with relatives.


Author Jasmine Warga lives in Chicago, and has written this book for middle grade readers.  However, the story touches the heart of adults as well as teens. Published in 2019, Other Words for Home is available as an ebook and as a a downloadable  audio.  It has also been written in 20 different languages!


This event is being sponsored by the Coming Together in Niles Township committee as part of this year’s theme, Journeys to Niles Township.

Sunday, February 23rd: 
2:00 pm: The Bulgarian Dance Ensemble HORO will entertain us with their festive and energetic folk dances.  All ages are welcome.

3:00 – 6:00 pm: The Authentic Society for Language and Romanian Culture, featuring an interactive performance with song, dance, a movie,  and displays of Romanian artifacts – all ages are welcome.

Saturday, February 29th, 10:00 to 11:30 am: 
"Leap into Games from Different Cultures" - bring the family and enjoy playing and exploring games from different lands. The event is supported through the families of East Prairie, and open to families in the Niles Township area. Reserve a place through Coming Together in – all ages welcome.
