Family Communication 4/8

Family Communication 4/8
Posted on 04/08/2020
EPS LogoDear East Prairie families,

As you are well aware conferences last month were cancelled due to the pandemic.  Timely communication and the opportunity to connect with you on your child’s growth and development are, and will always be, top priorities.

PreK through 5th grade families please reach out to your child’s teacher to find a time and format that best works to check-in and connect.

Middle school families your child has a “work in progress” e-portfolio to share with you.  The e-portfolio contains work samples from throughout the year, as well as many accompanying thoughtful reflections.  Please reach out to any teacher on your child’s team if you would like to further discuss progress, or anything else.

We will continue to be proactive in reaching out and checking in.  It was wonderful to see so many people at Tuesday’s Zoom PTA meeting, as well as the many folks who have joined our virtual family Q&A sessions.  Today’s session is at 3:00PM; here is the link to join.  Thank you for your ongoing feedback as we work to make this experience as meaningful for our students and families as possible.  It has been remarkable to see the bonds between home and school further strengthen during this most challenging time.

As the number of reported COVID-19 infections continues to grow, with Skokie reporting the highest rates of Cook County suburbs, we are going to shift our meal delivery model to ensure the healthy and wellbeing of our staff and families.  Beginning next week, meals will be available for pick-up on Mondays and Wednesdays.  Multiple days worth of meals will be prepared for pick-up.  Meal distribution will occur out of a bus at the following times/locations:

11:00-12:00PM     East Prairie School (off of Dobson Street)
12:10-1:00PM       Lyon Park (corner of Kostner and Howard, next to Kostner Korner located at 4356 Howard St)

Here are the daily steps for families to complete today (and every day) to access remote learning for your child(ren):

1) Submit the daily Remote Learning Attendance Check-In Form FOR EACH CHILD AT EPS by 9:30AM.
2) Click this link to go to the EPS Remote Learning Homepage.
3) Scroll down and click on your child’s grade level for Thursday, 4/9.  This will take you to their specific remote learning lesson plans.
4) Support and encourage your child to the fullest extent possible.  We realize this looks different for each family, and have worked hard to make each lesson as independent and developmentally appropriate as possible.
5) Rest, relax, repeat tomorrow!

Please reach out to any member of your child’s educational team with questions, comments, or concerns.  We are here to serve and support you during this time!

Today’s resource share is the hidden worlds of our national parks.  Through the National Parks Service and Google you can virtually explore these landmarks, discover artifacts, and learn more about the world around us.  Camping from home is highly encouraged! Safe travels!

In partnership,
The East Prairie Team
