EPS LogoWelcome to May!  In addition to being May 1st, it is also May Day and International Workers Day.  Check out today’s art and SEL collaboration to see how you can thank a superhero/essential worker.  Thank you to Ms. Wade-Kuzwayo and Ms. Doolas for this creative collaboration!  Here are some additional ideas for showing your gratitude.  This ties in seamlessly with the opportunity shared yesterday about creating messages and artwork for an essential worker safe space at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston.  Families looking to contribute to these spaces can create uplifting and inspiring cards, messages, and artwork.  Finished products can be mailed to the school or dropped in the Castro family mail slot located at  3839 Howard Street within our neighborhood.

Speaking of gratitude...next week is Teacher Appreciation Week.  As you well know, the staff at East Prairie is truly extraordinary and one of a kind!  The devotion, expertise, and care of our educators is first-class and beyond measure!  That being said, they want to make this coming week about YOU!  Our teacher team is so appreciative (and impressed) with all of the effort and expertise put into teaching your child at home, that we want to flip the script and recognize our families this coming week!  In addition to a few surprises throughout the week, we will be holding a car parade beginning at 11:00AM on Wednesday, May 6th.  We will be making our way throughout the neighborhood to say hi, thank you, and simply connect (at a distance).  The specific parade route to be shared soon.  Ensuring the very best for each child requires an effective partnership between the home and school.  At EPS we are proud to stand hand-in-hand with you to make that sentiment a reality and provide the very best experiences for our children.  Thank YOU for your hard work, dedication, and teamwork!

Next Tuesday, 5/5, will be our May PTA meeting via Zoom at 7:00PM.  Our future Superintendent Dr. Paul Goldberg will be joining us.  Here is a link to the meeting (password: 258430).  We look forward to seeing you there!

Here are the daily steps for families to complete today (and every day) to access remote learning for your child(ren):

1) Submit the daily Remote Learning Attendance Check-In Form FOR EACH CHILD AT EPS by 9:30AM.

2) Click this link to go to the EPS Remote Learning Homepage.

3) Scroll down and click on your child’s grade level for Friday, 5/1.  This will take you to their specific remote learning lesson plans.

4) Support and encourage your child to the fullest extent possible.  We realize this looks different for each family, and have worked hard to make each lesson as independent and developmentally appropriate as possible.

5) Have a wonderful weekend!

Please reach out to any member of your child’s educational team with questions, comments, or concerns.  We are here to serve and support you during this time!

Today’s resource share is the Chicago Symphony Orchestra From Home.  Though concerts are canceled through June 9th, the CSO From Home offers stupendous musical and behind the scenes content to enjoy!  Have an outstanding weekend and beginning of May!
