Family Communication on 5/15
Posted on 05/15/2020
Panther LogoDear East Prairie families,

Happy Friday Junior!  (It’s our favorite East Prairie term for Thursday.)  For those that have not yet seen it, here is a link to Governor Pritzker’s Restore Illinois plan to reopen the state.  Additional information on this initial framework, as well as further local details can be found on the Skokie Health Departments COVID-19 information page.  We will continue to collaborate with health, education, and government officials at all levels to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our children, teachers, families, and broader community.  We will continue to be proactive and thorough in our communication as we diligently work to plan for all possibilities next school year.

For our families that currently rent, Legal Aid Chicago reminds everyone that evictions are paused countywide until at least May 18th.  Tenants, however, are still required to pay rent and could face eviction after the moratorium ends.  Please note that it is illegal for any landlord to lock out a tenant without an eviction order from a court.  This link will take you to additional information from Legal Aid Chicago helping to explain how evictions are handled during the COVID-19 crisis.  Please reach out to info@eps73.net or to any member of our team with anything that we can do to support your family.

Our ABC countdown continues today with the letter “K” - kindness day.  Kindness is a strength of our school community and at no cost to share.  There is no such thing as a small act of kindness!  Pass it on! Here are the daily steps for families to complete today (and every day) to access remote learning for your child(ren):

1) Submit the daily Remote Learning Attendance Check-In Form FOR EACH CHILD AT EPS by 9:30AM.

2) Click this link to go to the EPS Remote Learning Homepage.

3) Scroll down and click on your child’s grade level for Friday, 5/1.  This will take you to their specific remote learning lesson plans.

4) Support and encourage your child to the fullest extent possible.  We realize this looks different for each family, and have worked hard to make each lesson as independent and developmentally appropriate as possible.

5) Have a wonderful weekend!

Please reach out to any member of your child’s educational team with questions, comments, or concerns.  We are here to serve and support you during this time!

Today’s resource share is the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art.  Skip over and check out their online exhibits and walking tour.  Remember no pictures in the gallery, please.  Have a fabulous Friday Junior!

In partnership,

The East Prairie Team
