Dear East Prairie families,

The final week of the school year is upon us.  While this homestretch has certainly been different than the one we envisioned; our goal is to close out the year with spirit and celebration to ensure a sense of community and closure for our students.  Today is our final planning day; daily lessons will continue, but with no teacher accessibility.  This time has been invaluable for us to collaborate on designing impactful instructional opportunities, as well as, to continue planning for next year.

A reminder that beginning TODAY, lunches will no longer be available at the East Prairie School or Lyons Park locations.  Instead, lunches will be served on Monday and Wednesdays from 11:00AM-1:00PM throughout the summer at Niles North High School (9800 Lawler Ave, Skokie) to help meet the needs of our students and families.  As an additional resource, the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) will provide healthy meals and snacks to children and teens age 18 and younger at hundreds of sites across Illinois this summer. Families can find their nearest summer meals site by calling (800) 359-2163, texting “FoodIL" to 877-877, or visiting summermealsillinois.org.

As you begin to plan for next year, the East Prairie PTA will once again be offering PrePack schools supplies for the upcoming school year.  See the flyer attached to preorder your child(ren)’s school supplies and have them ready to go!

Our ABC countdown continues today with the letter “V” - virtual vacation day.  Pack your bag and head out on your all expenses paid getaway.  Re-explore many of the amazing links provided in our “resource shares” of the past few months.  Show us your travels on our shared EPS Padlet wall.

1) Submit the daily Remote Learning Attendance Check-In Form FOR EACH CHILD AT EPS by 9:30AM.

2) Click this link to go to the EPS Remote Learning Homepage.

3) Scroll down and click on your child’s grade level for Friday, 5/1.  This will take you to their specific remote learning lesson plans.

4) Support and encourage your child to the fullest extent possible.  We realize this looks different for each family, and have worked hard to make each lesson as independent and developmentally appropriate as possible.

5) Have a wonderful weekend!

Please reach out to any member of your child’s educational team with questions, comments, or concerns.  We are here to serve and support you during this time!

Today’s resource reshare is Stay Home. Hit Play. Chicago.  Get inside of and explore Chicago's favorite cultural institutions from the comfort of your couch.  These “virtual trips capture the magic of the Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, National Museum of Mexican Art, Museum of Science and Industry, DuSable Museum, Art Institute of Chicago and Lincoln Park Zoo.”

Have a sensational start to June!

In partnership,

The East Prairie Team
